This is just 2 hours drive from Mbarara. The Kalinzu Forest Reserve encompasses 137 km2 while theKitomi-Kasyoha Forest Reserve, adjacent to Kalinzu, encompasses an additional 399 km2. At anelevation of 1000-1500 m above sea level, its habitat is broadly classified as medium altitude moist evergreen forest. Mammalian inhabitants of this forest include chimpanzees, black and white colobus, L’hoest guenon, baboon, red-tailed monkey, both blue and red duiker, bushbuck, waterbuck, giant forest hog, buffalo and elephants. Chimpanzee trekking permits at Kalinzu Forest can be booked prior to arrival in the park.
